Dad's Perspective: It was an amazing day and I was very proud. Will came quick and he was so handsome right away. It was hectic running between where Mommy was and the nursery where Will was. The Grandma's and Grandpa's were also very excited and proud. The best part of the day was when Mommy got to hold Will for the first time. She immediately recognized Will's dimples and that moment was amazing. The next 3 days in the hospital were filled with new expereinces; changing diapers, holding a baby, waking every 3 hours and Will become more and more active each day. Will had a lot of visitors and enjoyed meeting everyone. He even gave his uncle Jeff a little extra hello greeting. On Tuesday we got to go home and show Will where he would live. When we finally got home, it really sunk in that Will was here and that a our family had grown.
Holding Will for the first time
Proud Daddy
Mom's Perspective: Will was born on a Friday, March 14th at 1:51pm and was the best day of my life. Will was due on the 18th but we found out the week before that he was going to come a little earlier than expected...Yeah! I was sooooo ready to meet our new bundle and find out if it was a boy or a girl! That morning, I went and got a pedicure (hey...I knew it would be the last one for a little while!) and then we drove to the hospital at 11:00am. We were brought into the labor room to get ready and at that point it hit me that it really was time! The Grandma's and Grandpa's arrived excited to finally get to meet their first grandchild.
Aroung 1:00pm, we were brought into the delivery room. I went first so the doctor's could get me ready and then Eric came in after. Will was delivered very quickly and arrived at 1:51pm with a cry. The doctor's announced "It's a boy!" and both Eric and I started to cry. The nurses cleaned Will up and then handed him to Eric to hold for the first time. Will weighted 8 lbs 8 oz and was 21 inches long....big boy!! Eric brought Will over so that I could see him and man was he cute! After getting out of recovery, the nurse brought me to the nursery so I could finally hold my baby. The first thing I noticed was that Will had little dimples! I couldn't stop looking at him...he was all mine!
We were in the hospital for five (somewhat foggy) days. We kept Will in the nursery during the nights so we could catch up on some sleep. The nurse would bring Will to us when he needed to eat at night. That is still one of my most vivid memories from our entire stay. I can still hear the sound of Will crying as the nurse wheeled him down the hallway. Then the lights would turn on in our room and Will was brought in. Even though I was half asleep it was the best to just sit and watch him knowing all was good.
When our stay was over, we bundled Will up excited to introduce him to his new home and of course to his new friend Lucy.
