Ladies Man

First I will say...we don't know the girls in this picture. But from the look on Will's face, you would think they were his best friends. Whenever we are at the beach (or anywhere for that matter), Will makes a beeline for the closest group of kids he can find to play with. There is no shyness when it comes to this boy. He tends to migrate towards the older kids because they are always doing something fun. We were at the beach a couple weekends ago and he zoned in on this group of girls and immediately weaseled his way right into the middle of what they were doing. I will say that I think they really enjoyed playing with him and they kept him occupied for a good 45 minutes which was great for us.




In my usual fashion, I took about 200 pictures this weekend at the Cape. So here are a few more....

The "Joys" of Homeownership

So a couple of weeks ago the Town of Norfolk sent us a certified letter telling us we had a leak in our water pipe. Three weeks and few thousand dollars later this is what our beautiful yard looks like now. ugh. And this looks good compared to what it looked like before they filled the hole back in. Once this is all over, we have a new water line to look forward to...whoo! (note the sarcasm) Looks like my long list of house projects is going to be put on hold for a little while while we pay for our shiny new water line. Oh the joys of homeownership.....

God Bless Jack

We celebrated Jack's christening at St. Mary's Parish this past weekend. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day to celebrate such a special day for our little guy. it meant a lot that our family and friends were there with us especially Jack's godmother and godfather who have been a part of Eric and my lives for a very long time. Jack was such a good boy during the entire ceremony and wasn't even phased when the water was poured over his head. He had the biggest smile on his face which was too cute. Here are a few pictures from the day.

During the ceremony, the priest came to each child to give them a special blessing. We had a tough time prying the bottle away from the Jack who was more concerned with eating and less concerned with the fact that someone was rubbing oil on his head.

Take notice of the three babies around us. I don't think they were more than a month old. Jack look liked a giant compared to them.

Following the Christening, everyone one came back to our house for a picnic. We lucked out because I think this had to be on of the best days of the summer. I was running around like a crazy woman and not really accomplishing much of anything. Thank goodness for my mom, Eric's mom and grandmothers who basically manned the kitchen for me, my dad for taking some pictures, and everyone else at the party who basically took care of my kids for me. haha!

Too Cute

Tonight we were sitting on the deck having dinner. Will finished up and disappeared into the house for a few minutes. He came out carrying one of his ride on toys. He put it down and ran back into the house. A minute later he came back with another ride on toy for Jack. As he was pulling them out through the door we could hear him saying "Jack" and "Will" to indicate who the toys were for. He pulled the toy over to Jack and said "Here Jacky" and then went on to play with his own toy. Oh my gosh...it was the cutest thing I ever saw. It melted my heart to see him taking care of his brother like that. It is such an amazing feeling to watch them interact together and it made all the tough times of having two so close in age completely worthwhile.

8 Months

Well it only took us 8 months to finally take down the William sign and hang the 'JACK' letters above the crib. It's been a busy month for all of us, especially Jack. We don't have a doctor's appointment until next month so I'm not sure where he stands on the growth chart but just from looking at him he is definitely a happy and healthy little guy. Here are some highlights from the month....

On the move.....

As you've seen in a post already, Jack started crawling this month. We don't have any gates in the house but he actually keeps himself fairly contained all on his own. He pretty much just wants to be where ever his brother is. I usually find him either sitting next to Will watching a video or following him from room to room trying to play with whatever Will is playing with. Jack is still a little too young for them to really play together but it is very cute to watch the two of them interact. Jack loves to watch everything Will is doing and I think Will actually likes having someone else in the room to hang around with.

With crawling immediately came pulling himself up on everything he can get his hands on. This boy has some strong leg and arm muscles and can pull himself up on just about anything. The other day I found him pulling himself up against the wall.

To wrap up the month, Jack celebrated by taking his first steps holding onto his push toy!

Eating and Sleeping...
Jack is eating 3 meals a day (and 5 bottles) but we have started to move away from the baby food because he wants nothing to do with it. He wants to eat whatever Will is eating and when I try to feed him baby food, Jack just stares longingly at the food on Will's plate. So I have just started giving him a taste of whatever Will is eating and usually whatever I put in front of him, he eats it.

Jack is still sleeping pretty well (with the occasional bad night here and there). He goes down around 7:30 (at which point he is exhausted and falls asleep in a matter of minutes) and wakes up at 5 or 5:30am. Yes...he is still a very early riser. We try our hardest to get him to lay down with us in bed for a little longer but he wants nothing to do with. He prefers to climb all over Eric and I and pull himself on the headboard. Usually that goes on until Will wakes up at 6am at which point any hopes of trying to get a few more minutes of sleep is gone.

Hair style....

Jack has a case of wild bangs and we just don't know what to do with them. They seem to have a mind of their own..some days they are straight...other days curly...and occasionally they stick straight up. The rest of his hair hasn't quite caught up with his bangs just yet. I think I may need to take a scissors to the bangs at some point soon before they get too unruly.

Talking....

Jack said his first word...okay so word may be pushing it a little bit but he did make his first real sound that actually sounded like a word. So far "da-da" has been the extent of his talking but I think this is my favorite thing from the month. I love hearing his cute little voice.
